An Explanatory Note About "Lithographs":
Our LIMITED EDITION FINE ART PRINTS are high quality reproductions on archival stock, utilizing the same photo-based technology that is used in the printing of art posters. We chose not to refer to our Limited Edition Prints as Lithographs as this may cause confusion with the more classic processes of fine art lithograhpy below.
ORIGINAL GRAPHICS are produced via time honored processes (though the image quality may not be superior) such as stone or zinc plate lithography or fine art silkscreening (or Serigraphy). They are often based upon creations done especially for the graphic--as opposed to reproducing an existing painting--and are considered a superior investment, closer to the artist's hand. Morpheus uses internationally acclaimed lithographers and top quality papers, such as France's elite Arches brand.
GICLE'E prints derive their name from the French "spray of ink," as they are acheived using extremely high quality continuous tone digital printing technology. Each piece is double coated with a UV coating and is reproduced on vibrant, very heavy watercolor paper. This is a fairly new process, and we think you'll agree that the results are stunning, and mean a big future for this process!
